Trying to decide where to stay on Kauai with kids? Our Vacasa review will help you decide where to stay in Hawaii. We stayed 6 nights in a gorgeous 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom luxury condo in Princeville, Hawaii. This Vacasa rental called Pali Ke Kua 124 is the best place to stay on Kauai for great value, spectacular ocean and Na Pali coast views, spacious luxury accommodation, and thoughtful extra amenities that make you feel like you’re at home. You can even book it with points, which we’ll share exactly how to do in this Vacasa review.

Booking an entire home for a family vacation is a great way to save money. You can have meals in and save so much on dining, especially in places like Hawaii where eating out is very expensive. We especially love having an entire home when traveling as a family so we can have plenty of space, comfort, and privacy in separate bedrooms.

Booking Vacasa with Points

Booking Vacasa is very easy to do online through Vacasa’s website if you’re paying money for your reservation. You simply select your rental home online, submit your reservation, and receive an email confirmation. Vacasa homes can also be booked with Wyndham Rewards points, which is done by calling 800-441-1034 to reserve your rental home after you’ve found a property online on Vacasa.com.

You can book Vacasa homes for 15,000 Wyndham points per bedroom, per night. The 2-bedroom unit that we stayed in requires 30,000 Wyndham points per night, which is a great deal for a luxurious home that sleeps 5 people and has spectacular views. There may be blackout dates, so it’s a good idea to find several options you’re considering when calling to book.

If you don’t have Wyndham points, you can transfer points directly from Citi and Capital One to Wyndham Rewards. Several of our favorite travel reward credit cards earn points that transfer to Wyndham. Check out the current offers on Capital One Venture X Rewards, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, and Citi Premier if you’re looking to earn points for a Vacasa stay.

Location of our Vacasa in Princeville, Hawaii

Pali Ke Kua 124 is located in Princeville, Hawaii on Kauai’s lush and verdant northern shore. Pali Ke Kua is a resort condominium complex that sits on a bluff 200 feet above the ocean with breaktaking views of the ocean and mountains.

It is right next to the Princeville Golf Course and has a paved walking path allowing for scenic strolls. There is also a path to a secluded beach, Pali Ke Kua Beach, for guests of the resort complex. This is the most luxurious area of Kauai. It happens to be where all the billionaires live on the island, so you know it’s amazing. Pali Ke Kua has a swimming pool and hot tub, which we had to ourselves when we visited.

Accessing our vacation rental home

Vacasa made it very easy for us to access our vacation rental home in Kauai. We received an email about 24 hours before check-in with instructions on how to use the digital lock. We received a text with our unique code to enter once the unit was ready for check-in. We had trouble getting the digital lock to work when we arrived, but we texted Vacasa and immediately were given instructions on how to access the lock box with a physical key.

We received a text asking how our check-in went around the time we arrived, and if there was anything we needed. We also received a message asking about the cleanliness of the home, which was spotlessly clean. Cleanliness is extremely important to us, especially during this pandemic era. We appreciated the extra attention to this matter and Vacasa’s inquiry about our satisfaction at the very beginning of our stay. Local Vacasa staff were available to assist with any problems or questions.

We received a welcome gift of local Hawaiian products as well as Kukui nut leis, which are a symbol of enlightenment, protection, guidance and peace in Hawaiian culture. This thoughtful gesture was much appreciated, and made for a great souvenir of our trip.

Views from our Hawaii Vacasa

We were in awe as soon as we entered the condo and saw the jaw-dropping views of the Na Pali Coast and Pacific Ocean. The unit has floor to ceiling glass doors and windows in the living room which allow you to fully enjoy the view. Sunset views are absolutely incredible, so we made sure to return for sundowners on our patio almost every night of our trip. We even invited new friends that we made on a catamaran cruise over for sunset drinks our last night in Kauai, which had the most spectacular sunset we’d seen all week!

The lanai off the living room has a table and chairs where we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. There’s a grill and a ring toss game on the lanai. There’s also a second smaller lanai off the office area with 2 Adirondack chairs for lounging and taking in the picturesque view.

Modern decor & newly renovated

We’ve stayed in Hawaii condos that are outdated and in desperate need of an update, but this unit was newly renovated and features modern and luxurious amenities. It has a brand new kitchen with white marble countertops, stainless steel appliances, and new cabinets. It was fully stocked with everything you could ever need, including a Tiki bar cart and stainless steel tumblers to keep your drinks cold at the beach.

The bathrooms feature white marble countertops, spa-like fixtures, and rain showers. It also has a washer and dryer, which is especially convenient for a beach vacation in Hawaii.

We loved the contemporary, bright, beachy decor that was so tastefully done we suspect that an interior designer was involved. Extra touches like earthy-scented candles throughout the home, citronella candles outside on the patio, colorful throw blankets, and interesting books left us feeling cozy and at home.

Beach gear to borrow

We were so impressed by all the beach gear that the owners left for us to borrow while staying in their home. We found in the closet 3 large boogie boards, 4 beach chairs, a beach wagon, several beach cooler bags, and a sturdy beach umbrella with side flaps to anchor into the sand and provide extra sun protection.

The cabinets in the main entry way had about a dozen beach towels, snorkel masks and flippers, sand toys, water shoes of various sizes, sunscreen, and various sports equipment and balls. We’ve never stayed in a rental home that so generously provided beach equipment for guests to use. The next time we stay here, we can pack lighter and leave our snorkel gear at home.
